At a joint news conference with U.S. military spokesman Major-General William Caldwell, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh also announced the handover to the Iraqi government of the command of the Iraqi army's fourth division, based in Salahideen province in the north.
"Thursday, September 21, the security portfolio of Dhi Qar province will be handed over entirely by the Italian forces ... This is another step on the path of building our national forces and the transfer of the security portfolio into Iraqi hands," said al-Dabbagh.
